The Brumby Horse is a new series produced by the Perth Mint. Legend has it that James Brumby had to release a number of horses into the bush after he was transferred in 1801. The descendants of these horses, called Brumbies, still roam the wilds of Australia. The horses are often seen as a symbol of the Australian character because of their tough and independent personalities.
