Perth Mint

The Perth Mint is the oldest operating mint in Australia. It was opened in 1899 and was intended to serve as the third branch of the Royal Mint in Australia alongside the Sydney Mint and the Melbourne Mint. Today, it is the only one of the three still in operation and the only mint other than the Royal Australian Mint to mint Australian coins.

Royal Australian Mint

The Royal Australian Mint is located in Canberra and was established in 1965. The main role of The Royal Australian Mint is to produce the circulating coins for Australia. Designs include national flora and fauna, culture, heritage and important historical and contemporary events. The mint also strikes numismatic coins. These coins are usually produced in limited numbers for the collector's market and feature designs that tell the stories of Australia, its history, heritage, environment and wildlife. Before the Royal Australian Mint was formed, coins for the country were minted at different branches of the Royal Mint - the Sydney Mint, Melbourne Mint and The Perth Mint.
